CHARACTER NAME(S): Rikku FANDOM: Final Fantasy X
BACKGROUND HISTORY: Tidus, star player of the Zanarkand Abes, was able to witness something that not many could live to tell about. As he was in the middle of a Blitzball match, the technologically advanced city of Zanarkand was attacked by a massive beast. Auron, one of Tidus’ father’s friends had come to help Tidus, informing him that the beast was called Sin. The two were only able to get so far before Auron turns on Tidus, and takes him to Sin, as the two were sucked into some sort of nexus produced by the beast.
When Tidus next awoke, he was in an unfamiliar place-- ruins. Before he is bested by monsters known as fiends, a group of foreign-speaking men, accompanied by a younger girl, came to the rescue, where they used an assortment of weaponry and bombs to save his life. Unfortunately, they aren’t so friendly to start off with, as they knock him out once more and drag him back to their ship. Consequently enough, he’s ushered into some underwater ruin excavating. Though they run into some trouble, the team makes it back, and Tidus gets the chance to talk to the armored girl- once he knows that she is bilingual. She gives him food, then tells him that her name is Rikku. Of course, like any sane Spiran would, she doesn’t believe Tidus’ story, and actually blames Sin for his supposed delirium. She goes on to inform him that Zanarkand had been destroyed by for over 1,000 years, and that it had been deemed a holy land; people might get offended if he told them he was originally from there. As she agrees to take the boy to Luca, the ship is attacked by none other than Sin, and Tidus was knocked overboard and dragged away by the sea. It wouldn’t be the last time he’d see Rikku.
Tidus goes on to meet Wakka, Lulu, and Yuna of Besaid, as well as a Ronso named Khimari. All of which have embarked on a pilgrimage for Yuna -a summoner- to defeat Sin. He joins the party of Guardians, not knowing where else to go. In doing so, he had learned more about the land.
Spira, a land haunted by the monster called Sin, was once said to have a spiral of death involved in its unending cycle. This couldn’t be more truthful. Summoners -the holy people that followed the teachings of Yevon, were granted the power to summon powerful beasts called Aeons, and viewed as the hope for all Spira- were caught up in this spiral. As things stood, summoners would go on a sacred pilgrimage in order to acquire all the necessary Aeons, taking with them a group of people to serve as guardians as their travels took them all across the land and sea. The pilgrimage would ultimately lead the summoner’s party to Sin, where a battle would decide their fate. The summoner, however, would lose his or her life, win or lose. Sin killed innocent people, guardians risked their lives to protect the summoners, summoners had to eventually sacrifice their own lives in order to summon the final Aeon to defeat Sin, then the cycle repeats itself again after ten years have passed and Sin is reborn again… thus, the spiral of death. The fact that summoners sacrificed their lives to summon the final Aeon was kept from Tidus until later.
Rikku joins up with the party permanently when they’re on their way to Guadosalam. It was peculiar at first that Rikku was accepted as a Guardian immediately, and how Yuna acted as if they’d known each other. All the while, Wakka remains oblivious to both Rikku and Yuna’s Al-Bhed blood.
The party then moves to Guadosalam, the city of the Guado, a race of elf-like humanoids of which Seymour is the leader. He personally greets the party and takes them to his mansion, where he flirts with Yuna and shows them a machina-made vision of Tidus's Zanarkand. Within the vision is the first Summoner to defeat Sin, Lady Yunalesca. Seymour in fact goes one step forward and offers Yuna his hand in marriage. Yuna avoids answering, and instead takes her party to visit the Farplane, the land of the dead where pyreflies form to make images from the memories of a mourner of their lost loved one. Rikku believes the entire thing to be nothing more than an illusion, and so refuses to enter.
Their next trek takes place at the Thunder Plains, where Rikku immediately starts to flinch and scream. Despite her objections, the group crosses the plains, arriving at Macalania Woods. Connected to the woods is a pathway to Macalania Temple, where Seymour awaited Yuna’s answer. The group only gets so far before being ambushed by the Al-Bhed, who tried to stop the pilgrimage from going on and unleashed a powerful machina before the party took it down. This is where Wakka learns about Rikku being an Al-Bhed and starts to feel disgusted by it. Tidus tries to tell Wakka that Rikku isn't some Al-Bhed and that she's actually a good person, that Rikku is just Rikku. Angry that no one would take his side, Wakka heads to Macalania temple by foot while everyone else rides on machina. Determining on the affection levels during the game, Tidus will either ride with Rikku, Lulu, Auron, or Kimahri. If Tidus rides with Rikku, he'll learn that Rikku and Yuna are cousins and Rikku will explain to Tidus why Al-Bhed want to protect all the summoners during the pilgrimage and tells him that they sacrifice themselves too well to bring happiness to Spira, which Tidus doesn't have a clue yet. Eventually, they arrive at the temple.
Inside, the party comes upon the sphere that Yuna had retrieved, which shows that Seymour murdered his father in order to succeed him as Maester. The party goes forward to confront Seymour. During the battle, Seymour uses his powerful Aeon Anima, but it is defeated with the help of Yuna's new Aeon, Shiva. Without anything left to protect him, Seymour is killed. However, Tromell appears and takes away Seymour's body before Yuna can send him. He breaks the Sphere that proves Seymour's crimes. The party then flees the temple with Guado soldiers in pursuit. They manage to escape when a Fiend causes them to fall through the icy Lake Macalania.
It is assumed that Sin once again uses a nexus-like portal to shift the party elsewhere, as they heard a massive creature moving before their departure. Waking up on the island of Bikanel, the party regroups as Rikku explains where they are. Consequently, Yuna is nowhere to be found. She decides to take them to the hidden sanctum of the Al-Bhed, simply called “Home”, completely convinced that Yuna would already be there. Their arrival, however, couldn’t have been any worse. Home was under attack by the Gaudo; massive fiends infested the grounds. Desperate to help, Rikku runs inside, with the others close by. Deep inside Home, there is a vault called the Summoner‘s Sanctum, where the group finds other summoners, but can’t seem to find Yuna. A curious Tidus asks why the Al-Bhed are so desperate to protect summoners, and Rikku finally answers him fully. “Yunie will die, you know?!”
Fighting together with the Summoners found in the vault, the group makes its way to the Al-Bhed Airship commanded by Rikku's father, Cid, which happened to be the very ship that Tidus and Rikku salvaged near the game's beginning. The ship takes off with most of the Al-Bhed people on board, having been forced to abandoned their homeland. Ultimately, Cid decides to blow up Home with the airship’s artillery in order to take out the Guado, and the fiends brought with them. While on the Airship, the party learns that Yuna has been taken by the Guado to Seymour in Bevelle.
TIMELINE SUMMARY: Just before the group deploys on the rescue mission in Bevelle, after defeating the city‘s guardian beast. Although Seymour was once slain, his soul still felt unrest, and remained in the land as an unsent. He planned to marry the summoner, even in death, and the group of Guardians was determined to save her.
PERSONALITY: Upbeat and positive, Rikku is not afraid to speak her mind. She is prone to being cheerful in even the most unnecessary situations, and hates to see others down. She is also one for jumping on to bandwagons; an example being whenever Tidus would cheer about something, Rikku almost immediately would chime in after him. She’s kind and caring, specifically when it comes to her cousin, and can be extremely protective over her. Her priorities show this much as she’d rather keep Yuna safe and lock her up than to have her face Sin and sacrifice her own life. She also has times where her immaturity shows. If someone says something she thinks to be rude, she’ll typically counteract it with “You big meanie!”. This also applies to when no one shows her sympathy. Her mature side shows whenever she needs to defend something she cares about, be it her cousin, or her race.
There is a morose, more subtle side to Rikku, as well; specifically when it comes to her race of Al-Bhed. She wishes for her people to be restored to their former glory, as they are now looked down upon by Yevon, viewed as heretics. When she argued with Wakka about the Al-Bhed not being bad people, she used ways of showing that they were no different than the followers of Yevon; they even sang the Hymn of the Fayth every now and again.
Rikku is extremely afraid of lightning and thunder, as she revealed when the party reached Thunder Plains. As the story was told, she and her brother were swimming in the ocean when they were younger, when a fiend attacked them. Not knowing what else to do, her older brother decided to cast lightning on the monster, accidentally hitting Rikku in the process, and she’s been afraid of it ever since. She also talks to Tidus about how she looks up to Lulu, and hopes to be as mature as her, one day.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: Use- Rikku can use an assortment of items that have been attained in battle, whether it be used to attack, defend, or heal. Mix- Rikku’s Overdrive ability. With this, she can choose two items from the inventory to fuse together and make either an extremely lethal attack item, a defense item with multiple benefits, or a restoration item that can do wonders for the entire party. Steal- Rikku can use this to steal an item from an opponent. Mug- The same effect as Steal, but is accompanied by a normal attack of her daggers. Spare Change- By throwing Gil at an enemy, she can do damage depending on the amount thrown. (Divide the amount of Gil thrown by ten, and that will be the amount of damage dealt.) Luck- Raises character’s luck. (Luck raises critical hit rates, chances of landing an attack, evasion rates, helps Rikku to steal more rare of items, and makes the characters affected less likely to be targeted by a lethal attack.) Copy Cat- With this, Rikku will mimic the previous move of a character in the party, exclusions include summoning and Overdrives. Full-Life[Locked]- Revives an ally from being K.O.’d with their health completely restored.
SAMPLE: Rikku needed something…anything to let her know that she was not dreaming. Anything at all. She was confused beyond belief. She was no longer in the airship her father was commanding… she was no longer surrounded by her fellow Guardians… she was no longer on her way to save her cousin. Green-swirled eyes looked down below at the planks. She was on an average boat, adrift at sea. It had to be real; she had never had a dream this vivid before. She could smell and taste the salt in the sea’s breeze…hear the gentle waves lap against the side of the boat… felt the sea’s mist against her skin. Men in armor stood at each of the deck’s corners-- they almost looked like the armored soldiers of Yevon, but not quite.
A gloved hand reached up to scratch her head, pondering. There were others onboard, too… none of which looked familiar. She had to do something. She needed to go back somehow. Yuna was in danger, Seymour had something up his sleeve, and she wanted to get her cousin away from that man as soon as humanly possible. Yunie…
“Um, ‘scuse me. Can you, um, maybe tell me where I am? It doesn’t look very much like Besaid.”
The blond’s head tilted in question as she waited for a decent answer. For all she knew, this could be a ploy of Yevon’s. Maybe being dropped off at some deserted island. At this thought, she immediately turned offensive… or so she thought.
“Y-You better tell me something, Bub!”Tags: app, ooc
